# Brief · privacy

Brief works from the cards you add.

No bank connection. If message reading ships, it ships as an opt-in and this page changes first.

## What Brief holds today

The cards you name, the statuses and balances you enter, the wins you log, and the goals you set. That, and the sign-in below, is the whole of it. Brief asks for no card number, no bank login and no statement upload, and it cannot see an account it was not told about.

## Where it is kept

On your device. Signing in copies your wallet to Brief’s account store so it follows you between devices, and signing out leaves the local copy behind. Card rules, transfer routes and status ladders are the same public seed for everyone and carry nothing about you.

## Your sign-in

Signing in with Google gives Brief your name and email address. Signing in with a code gives it the phone number or email you entered. It identifies your account. Brief sends it no marketing and shares it with no one. Questions go to adi@getbrief.cards.

## The waitlist

Joining the waitlist gives Brief your email address, the page you joined from, how many cards you said you hold, and, on Vouchers or The Plan, the names of the cards you picked there. No card number. It is kept in Brief’s account store and used only to write when a place opens. To come off the list, write to adi@getbrief.cards and the address is deleted.

## What automatic tracking would mean

The roadmap’s next phase reads spends from your messages. It is not built. When it is, it is a choice you make rather than a default, it reads transaction alerts and nothing else, and this page says so before the feature ships.

## What Brief does not do

Brief sells nothing about you and shows no advertising. Where a card recommendation ever carries a referral fee, the fee does not reorder the advice, and the page will say which links carry one.

## How visits are counted

Brief counts visits with PostHog and Google Analytics: which pages are read, which buttons are pressed, and where a visit came from. By default no cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device, so every visit counts as a new one. If you allow a cookie, a return visit counts as a return, for up to a year. Neither service is given your name or email, and the choice can be changed below.

## Removing it

Deleting your account removes the wallet, the statuses, the balances and the ledger. What is left is the public card seed, which was never yours.
